The group said they were disappointed with the IEBC's for proceeding with the election despite Raila Odinga's withdrawal from the contest. Raila's backers in Kibra, Mathare and Kawangware engaged police officers in running battles after they attempted to disrupt the voting. Presiding officers in the polling stations confirmed that less than 25 per cent - equivalent to 170 voters - had cast their ballot before noon. Voting kicked off at 6am although some polling stations experienced hitches such as KIEMs kits failing to work. The presiding officers in slum areas confirmed that none of the international election observers visited the stations.
