Raila Odinga in Zanzibar, resists Maraga’s ruling wholesale

Former presidential candidate for the National Super Aliance chief, Raila Odinga, on Monday, November 20, rejected the verdict by Supreme Court on the petitions challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s last month victory. Chief Justice David Maraga and five other judges, upheld Kenyatta’s win paving way for the swearing in of the Jubilee leader for a second term this coming Tuesday (November 28, 2017). Mr Odinga who was reportedly in Zanzibar at the time of the ruling, maintained that the Jubilee government was illegitimate noting that the Opposition will announce to its supporters the way forward this week. “We in Nasa had repeatedly declared before this Supreme Court ruling that we consider this government to be illegitimate and do not recognise it.” The ex-Prime Minister’s adviser Salim Lone said in a statement. Adding: “This position has not been changed by the court ruling, which did not come as a surprise.
