Strike action that threatened the cancellation of six train excursions during a cruise ship day has been withdrawn by the Rail and Maritime Transport Union. However, the union announced yesterday it had withdrawn the strike notice. Union South Island organiser John Kerr said Dunedin Railways had come back with a ''very positive'' offer. He said the offer from Dunedin Railways was ''within the mandate'' of what the members wanted. For them [Dunedin Railways], they'll have good stability and a committed workforce.
