New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi on Thursday asked the Congress's newly formed All India Unorganised Workers Congress (AIUWC) to fight for the rights of workers in the unorganised sector. The Congress vice-president said such workers didn't get recognition and protection despite possessing enormous skills in their fields. He asked the AIUWC to work among street vendors, domestic workers, rickshaw-pullers, auto-drivers, construction workers, among others, and give voice to their concerns. Rahul described the party's initiative as historic. AIUWC chief Arvind Singh said they would organise workers and create awareness among them to fight for their rights.
