PhotoRafael Nadal sat in an interview room late Friday night deflecting questions about how impressive his form had been at the United States Open. It was even noted that Nadal, a two-time champion at the United States Open, had never lost fewer games on his way to the fourth round than he had this year. Nadal’s opponent in the fourth round was 24th-seeded Lucas Pouille, a rising 22-year-old talent from France. Nadal and Pouille had played only once before, and Nadal had won. Nadal, 30, pulled put of this year’s French Open after his third-round match because of an injury to his left wrist.
