Raees revolves around the rise and fall of a Gujarat-based bootlegger played by Shah Rukh Khan and an earnest cop played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. As inspector Jaideep Majmudar, whose mission is to nab the bootlegger Raees (Khan), Siddiqui entertains not just in his entry - beating the earlier best in Bajrangi Bhaijaan - but in later scenes with his wry delivery, perfect timing and looks. So Rahul Dholakia and his writers start off showing Raees as a bootlegger with promise, and spectacles, in the dry state of Gujarat. Dholakia finds himself trying to pull off a herculean task, trying to show Khan as an all encompassing hero.
