Newspapers claim that Chancellor Rachel Reeves and her partner reportedly receive £74,000 a year from two rental properties. Both the Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail ran stories over the weekend alleging that Reeve’s and her partner Nicholas Joicey let out their four-bedroom home in south London for around £3,200 a month, having moved into 11 Downing Street. The papers say Joicey is also believed to have let a two-bed flat in central London, with a market rental of nearly £3,000 a month. In last week’s Budget Reeves announced that stamp duty on additional homes such as buy to lets would rise – overnight – from 3% to 5%.
