The verdict of Rajshahi University (RU) teacher Prof AFM Rezaul Karim Siddique’s killing case is set to be delivered on Tuesday. Prof Rezaul, 58, of RU’s English Department, was murdered in the city’s Shalbagan area while he was waiting for a university bus on April 23, 2016. Rezaul’s son Sourov Hossain later filed the murder case at Boalia police station. Two other militants – Nazrul Islam alias Bike Hasan and Tareque Hasan Milu alias Osman – were also killed in reported gunfights with police in Rajshahi and Bogra, respectively. Prof Rezaul’s family members and the university’s teachers, students and employees have staged demonstrations on the campus demanding justice.
