Dr Shamsuzzoha Dhaka TribuneOn February 18, 1969, Dr Shamsuzzoha was shot dead by Pakistani military in front of the RU main gate when he rushed there to protect the students who were marching towards the town, violating Section 144Commemorating the 51st anniversary of martyrdom of Dr Shamsuzzoha, Rajshahi University (RU) authorities observed Teachers’ Day on the campus in a befitting manner on Tuesday. Zoha was the RU proctor and a teacher of the Chemistry department. Dr Zoha is the country’s first martyred intellectual. RU Department of Chemistry, in association with the university authorities, organized the Zoha memorial lecture at the auditorium. The speakers said Dr Zoha is the first intellectual martyr of the country.
