RTHK Programme Staff Union chairwoman Gladys Chiu Sin-yan said police's arrest on Bao Choy has jeopardized the whole news industry. Police’s arrest of RTHK contributor Bao Choy Yuk-ling is like a knife hanging over every journalist’s neck, undermining the freedom of the press in Hong Kong, jeopardizing the whole industry, said RTHK Programme Staff Union chairwoman Gladys Chiu Sin-yan. Chiu said the union has initiated talks with RTHK’s management, requesting their involvement in aiding Choy in her arrest. “The documentary Hong Kong Connection is a product of RTHK, not a personal production by Choy, RTHK should undoubtedly share responsibility and do all they can to help Choy with her case,” Chiu claimed. She said she has no knowledge if the Hong Kong Connection episodes related to Choy’s case will need to be removed from RTHK’s site.
