Photo / Waynne Williams/Antarctica New ZealandBy RNZA Royal New Zealand Air Force aircraft has completed a high-risk mission to evacuate an injured person from Antarctica. The C-130 Hercules, with 13 crew on board, including two Defence Force medical personnel, left Christchurch late last night, bound for McMurdo Station. It is the first time the Air Force has flown a medevac mission to Antarctica using this technology. The aircraft refuelled at McMurdo while the patient was picked up before getting airborne a short time later.
