A passionate group of Concert FM supporters is pushing ahead with a protest concert because they believe the future of the RNZ station "is not yet safe". RNZ announced last week it intended to move Concert FM's frequency to a new youth-oriented music channel and turn Concert into a fully-automated service, axing the station's presenters. SUPPLIED RNZ Concert casual announcer Charlotte Wilson says it's important to show RNZ and Government the level of support for the station as it was a public service that fulfilled a vital function. Despite RNZ's backtrack, the Save RNZ Concert group is going ahead with their plans to hold a protest concert at Parliament on February 24 from 4pm. The group expected a crowd of more than 5000 people would attend the protest concert, and encouraged supporters to bring their musical instruments to join in.
