Sridevi or Pappi, as she was called by her family, was not a friend. Like this one time when we went to Visakhapatnam for a shoot of a film called Jaani Dost (1983). During Nagina, Sridevi and I found ourselves in that awkward situation, just standing there, waiting. I was probably one of the first people to know that Sridevi was in a relationship with Boney Kapoor. The queen of Indian cinema has passed away, leaving behind her a void that will never be filled.
