The gunman impersonating a police officer drove a former RCMP vehicle across rural Nova Scotia before he was shot dead by police. Many people pointed out that internet service is spotty in central and northern Nova Scotia and Twitter use is not widespread. Chris Leather received questions about the lack of an emergency alert in the days following the shootings. "We were in the process of preparing an alert when the gunman was shot and killed by the RCMP," he said.
