Around 12:43 p.m. Saturday, Canmore RCMP and emergency services responded to a call about a 20-year-old Calgary woman who’d fallen approximately 35 metres in the Grassi Lakes rock climbing area near Canmore, west of Calgary. Officials said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. CALGARY—Canmore RCMP are investigating the cause of a Calgary hiker’s death on Saturday, which they believe was accidental. The RCMP are still investigating the cause of the woman’s fall, but said it appears to have been an accident. They report that the woman was scrambling — a style of ascent that involves walking up steep terrain with no support other than your hands.
