RBC Taylor Prize ending after 20 years of celebrating non-fiction writers

The prestigious RBC Taylor Prize for non-fiction is about to give out its final honour. The inaugural award was given out in 2000, in the memory of Taylor’s husband, journalist and philanthropist Charles Taylor. “I’m very sorry to see the RBC Taylor Prize wrapping up after twenty years,” said John Degen, executive director of the Writers’ Union of Canada. “The Taylor Prize has a 20-year-history of choosing books relevant to the conversations we need to have now in Canada. “There’s no question the Taylor Prize grew Canada’s appreciation for our own creative non-fiction,” said Degen.
