PETALING JAYA: Award-winning Al Jazeera journalist Steve Chao and The Star Online senior editor A. Asohan will both be fielding questions about media bias live on R.AGE today. Many netizens have spoken up over the lack of media coverage and sympathy towards terror attacks in non-Western cities, especially in light of the deadly bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester last month. As part of its weekly Facebook Live talk show The Couch, R.AGE will be discussing this "selective outrage" with Chao and Asohan as panelists. "We need to remember that most of the big, traditional media outlets are owned by the West, and so their media coverage would be on events that affect them," said Chao, during a pre-interview with R.AGE. "News outlets also look at which news pieces receive the most clicks," said Asohan, who incidentally is not the famously elusive Star Online Facebook admin.
