TORONTO — As far as the Toronto Blue Jays are concerned, there is but one reasonable antidote for this bit of business down at the Rogers Centre Wednesday afternoon. In the final three innings, the Blue Jays went quietly to their fate, nine up, nine down. The Padres seemingly put the game on ice with two more runs in the sixth inning, chasing Dickey from the mound. The Blue Jays offence, so potent over the last six weeks, was largely absent save for a short-lived three-run, two-out rally in the sixth inning. In the fourth inning, the Blue Jays’ uncharacteristic sloppiness in the field cost them two more unearned runs.
