The Welles St bar with its quirky facade is a familiar sight in eclectic South Town. Christchurch developer Box 112 is divesting one of its first developments – the South Town building housing the iconic Welles St bar – from its large portfolio. The property, at 44 Welles St, which began its life as a grocery distribution centre is set for auction on March 4. “Having 100 apartments built next door by Fletchers was a driver; South Town’s Welles St really has become its own little inner-city suburb.”Supplied The building at 44 Welles St is leased to hospitality operator Campbell Fields on a 12-year term. Welles St is also a short distance to the central retail precinct and other key Christchurch Central anchor projects.
