QuickCheck: Did researchers discover a rare underground flowering palm species?

While most of us assumed this fruit grew on trees, is it true that researchers had found a new rare species of pinang that grows flowers and fruits underground in Borneo? Apparently the Pinanga subterranea was already known to the indigenous people who enjoy consuming its juicy red fruit.
