There is a viral message floating around on WhatsApp that the government is giving away free laptops if you register at a website using your Telegram account. VERDICT:FALSEAccording to fact-checking website MyCheck Malaysia, the message is a scam tactic used to hack into unsuspecting people's Telegram accounts, called Telegram Takeover. It reminded the public to always be wary of supposedly "too good to be true" promotions and that all legitimate government URL links end with.gov.my.
