Look at this: Bank of England press conferences hijacked by high-frequency traders. And right under the nose of governor Mark Carney. First question: why would anyone want to hear Mr Carney’s views on financial life a split-second earlier than everyone else? Remember how often he told us interest rates were going up: 2013’s 7 per cent jobless target, 2014’s Mansion House speech, 2015’s Lincoln Cathedral sermon? Why would his press conferences be any different?
