Queenstown developments rejected despite need for homesSUPPLIEDDespite pleas by Queenstown's business community, two proposed housing developments have been rejected. Speaking after the meeting council planning portfolio leader Cath Gilmour said both proposals were rushed to meet a September deadline for the Government's Special Housing Area legislation. The Queenstown Lakes District Council decided it would not recommended a controversial 141-lot subdivision at Waterfall Park, near Arrowtown, to the Housing Minister for Special Housing Area status. "The Special Housing Act is being used as a Trojan Horse to try to get an exclusive subdivision through." It also rejected plans for a 207-lot subdivision known as Glenpanel on the outskirts of Queenstown.
