Provincial police officers and firefighters are knocking on the doors of Rigaud residents who have yet to evacuate their homes after much of the Quebec municipality was flooded. The town declared a state of emergency and urged residents to leave their homes Thursday afternoon when the banks of the Ottawa River overflowed. They will be checking to see if the residents need help. She added that she has enough bottled water and her sons installed sandbags around the house. If people can't access bottled water, they can consume their well water only if it is clear and has been boiled for at least one minute.
