Contributed PhotoPRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has downgraded the quarantine status for the National Capital Region (NCR) to normal general community quarantine from GCQ "with some restrictions," Palace spokesman Harry Roque Jr. said on Thursday. Laguna, which is also part of the NCR Plus, will remain under GCQ "with heightened restrictions." Aside from Laguna, other areas in GCQ "with heightened restrictions" are Cagayan, Lucena City, Naga City, Negros Oriental, Zamboanga del Sur and Davao City. Bataan, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao Occidental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte and Butuan City will be under second strictest modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until July 31. Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Benjamin Abalos Jr. said Metro Manila mayors do not see any problem in extending the GCQ.
