St. Mark's Square in Venice, Italy, in nearly deserted on Monday, March 9. Hong Kong is expected to impose new quarantine requirements for any visitor who had been to Italy, or parts of Japan, Germany or France, in the past two weeks, RTHK reports. The 14-day quarantine, will come into effect from midnight on Thursday, the Consulate General of France announced. The same quarantine requirement has been in place for arrivals from the mainland since February 8. Hong Kong also has "red" travel alerts in place advising people to avoid non-essential trips to South Korea, Iran and Italy because of the virus epidemic.
