A woman who escaped from managed isolation after yelling at staff before jumping over a wall has been denied diversion. He also expressed surprise at the lack of support for people with mental health concerns in the managed facilities. He said he was satisfied the matter was the result of her mental health difficulties. The maximum penalty for intentionally breaching the Covid-19 Public Health Response Act is six months’ jail or a $4000 fine. Derrett’s lawyer said her client had suffered from mental health issues while in Australia, and before returning home had become ‘’effectively homeless’’.
