THE public will be able to watch lifesavers in action during a two-day life-saving sport competition in Penang starting today. Also taking part in the event are some participants from a life-saving sport coaching workshop held over the last two days at the Penang Golf Club in Bukit Jambul. Lead coach Steven Kent from New Zealand lifting up a rescue tube while pulling a ‘drowning victim’ to safetyLife Saving Society Malaysia (LSSM) deputy president Geh Thuan Tek said the competition would test their endurance and expertise in rescue techniques. They were taught life-saving skills by lead coaches. In one demonstration, a lead coach dived into the water with a bright yellow rescue tube to rescue a ‘drowning victim’.
