Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s food-aid program for the ultra poor is a bold step towards ending the problem of hunger in Bangladesh. Bangladesh currently has a score of 27.3 in the Global Hunger Index, putting us in the “serious” category. The nation has dealt with famines before, and not so long ago, death by starvation was quite common during the lean season. Over the past few years, we have made strides towards winning the war on hunger. We thank the prime minister for taking the lead in making hunger a thing of the past.
