Buckling under pressure of non-teaching employees and the Punjab government directive, Punjabi University has decided to relieve all re-employed teaching and non- teaching employees from February 28. “All the re-employed teachers will be relieved from February 28 afternoon. While the authorities tried to pacify the protesters by saying that the re-employed teachers will be relieved after this academic session or March 31, but protesters insisted for their immediate removal. The protesters said that the university has taken a good decision, as it will improve the financial condition of the university. On the other hand, the teaching community has termed it as an attempt to undermine the autonomy of the university.
