The recent Punjab by-election results are a good omen for democracy in Pakistan. Indeed, democracy is a culture rather than a process. Democracy itself teaches people to decide who should be their ruler. Now, Punjab election results are clearly manifesting that people are enlightened and want real leaders for themselves and they have disliked the hereditary politics which has deteriorated the economy as well as the international image of Pakistan. Now, all parties should consider that in this more advanced and globalised world where even a layman can analyse the performance of a government, only a public leader can enjoy the top slots in Pakistan.
