(Source: Express photo by Gurmeet Singh)A 25-year-old lost his life due to alleged drug overdose in Moga’s Daulewala, a village which has earned a reputation to be a drug haven. The victim, whose body was recovered from the ruins of a building in the village, has been identified as Sukhchain Singh, a resident of nearby Manava village. According to the father of the deceased, Gurdeep Singh, Sukhchain left the house saying that he was going to see an orthopedics specialist in Daulewala. The village also witnessed more than 20 deaths in a span of two years due to drug addiction. On April 7, Punjab DGP Suresh Arora had even personally visited Daulewala to counsel and interact with the villagers and motivate the youth to leave drug peddling and consumption.
