The Savitribai Phule pune University (SPPU) is getting the tank as a gift from the Army. According to the authorities of the university, the university is getting the tank as a gift from the Indian Army. It is a Russian battle tank which has played a key role in 1965 as well as 1971 Indo-Pakistan wars. "The general officer commanding in chief of southern command Lieutenant General PM Hariz will be present at the time of the installation of the tank," University officials said. The idea had received lot of criticism on why a battle tank should be installed in a university.
