GovarthanStrengthening of roads outside core city areas by the Corporation is expected to broad-base urbanisation in the long run, according to resident welfare associations. “Travelling on the stretch spanning a few kilometres, which used to be an ordeal, has turned pleasant,” Ravichandran of Jeeva Nagar, an office-goer said. Residents of Jeeva Nagar, for instance, are relieved over the re-laying of the hitherto pot-holed stretch till the Chennimalai Road. Gradual, but steady, urbanisation is becoming noticeable at places such as Rangampalayam along Chennimalai Road that was not long ago considered the city outskirts. The third phase of ring road project that will complete the connectivity from Solar on Karur Road to Thindal along Perundurai road will further pave way for development of the city outside the urban agglomeration, the sources said.
