On Sunday, alongside Mahfuj, Businessman Sheikh Bashir Uddin and filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki were appointed as new advisors. Bashir is the half-brother of former Awami League MP Sheikh Afil Uddin from the Jashore-1 constituency. Farooki argued that he had been against the Awami League since 2012 and had even held secret discussions about it at the American Club.
