A prominent public servant was arrested in Hanover Park on Friday 14 October on a charge of rape. The case was opened earlier this week at the Philippi Police Station. It is alleged that the accused promised the complainant work opportunities in the safety sector. Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: "A 56-year-old male was arrested on Friday 14 October on a charge of rape and is due to make a court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on Monday (17 October)." The man is currently being detained at the Philippi Police Station.
