On Monday President Donald Trump began the process of rolling out his $1 trillion infrastructure plan. In particular, the President’s plan focuses extensively on public and private partnerships, a strategy that the U.S. has been slow to engage with compared to many other developed nations. In addition, it is unclear how states are going to oversee public-private partnerships. Public policy experts are also worried that the plan will severely limit the amount of investment in rural areas, as they will not provide solid returns on investment. More details are expected throughout the week, although Trump aides have stated a full blueprint for the infrastructure plan will not be available for at least another month.
