Pub bosses launch lockdown legal challenge and demand to see 'scientific evidence'

The three-tiered system is set to see pubs and restaurants close in the north of England - with more than a dozen nighttime economy organisations arguing it will decimate the industry. Across most of the country venues are only allowed to operate indoors between 6am and 6pm and not serve alcohol. While pubs and licensed restaurants in certain areas have been forced to close until October 25. Sacha Lord, the night-time economy adviser for Greater Manchester, is leading the challenge, and has called on Downing Street to produce supporting scientific evidence. Michael Kill, chief executive of NTIA, which represents more than 1,400 businesses, added restrictions on the industry appear to be "disproportionate and unfair".
