Parents who receive subsidy payments toward their child-care fees from the Region of Peel are not entitled to the GOF (general operating fund) discount, a daily discount of $12 for children who attend full-time care. This is the case even if the subsidy fee reduction is less than $12 a day. If a subsidy parent who gets their fees reduced by less than $12 a day finds out about this, they cannot retroactively have the difference reimbursed. The only option is to discontinue the subsidy and get the GOF discount going forward. However, the GOF discount is only confirmed one month at a time by the province.
