As discussions to hold the Provincial Council Elections are underway, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Anupa Pasqual made it clear that a Provincial Councils Act would only give rise to separatism. “The Provincial Councils Act gives rise to separatism. “Provincial councils must be controlled by representatives appointed by the people. If instead of that a representative of the President or the Governor is controlling the Provincial Council that is wrong. So, as a party, we have decided that the electoral system should include proportional representation,” said SJB MP Tissa Attanayake.
