(CNN) A peaceful protest organized to stand in solidarity with Charlottesville, Virginia, took a turn Monday when protesters toppled a Confederate statue in Durham, North Carolina. Demonstrators gathered at the old Durham County courthouse around the Confederate Soldiers Monument.
