Protesters under the banner of Osun Civil Society Coalition and Joint Action Front (JAF) on Wednesday stormed the streets of Osogbo, Osun State, demanding for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari over his refusal to reverse the hike of electricity tariff and pump price of petrol. Findings by Tribune Online indicated that the protesters had converged on the popular Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Old Garage area around 8:15 am and commence the demonstration against the hike in electricity tariff and price of petrol. It would be recalled that Wednesday’s protest will be the third time protesters, consisting of human right activists and students demonstrated to condemn the federal government’s decision over an increase in petrol pump price and electricity tariff. The protesters moved through Oke-Fia junction, Alekuwodo, Ola-Iya Junction and rounded off the demonstration in front of the premises of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), Osun State chapter, located at Fagbewesa, Osogbo. The inscriptions on the placards and banner read thus “Nationalise the oil sector under workers democratic control’, ‘no to fuel, electricity tariff, ‘Buhari govt anti-masses, among others.
