A group of protesters gathered at the Chater Garden in Central tonight, and at least one person have been taken away by the police. They were chanting anti-police slogans and slogans including "Hong Kong Independence, the only way out" and "liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our time." The police intercepted and searched some people, and demanded people to disperse as they were participating in unlawful protests. Today marks one year since pro-democracy protests began, when about one million people took to the streets on Hong Kong Island to protest against the now-withdrawn extradition bill. In a statement earlier, the police warned the public not to take part in unauthorized assemblies on Hong Kong Island tonight, and that they will take resolute action to enforce the law, including making arrests.
