The victim, an eight-year-old second-grader at the Karbala Government Primary School, was found near her house—in a sack—at Dharmatala, in Jessore, on Monday evening; a day after she went missing, playing outside. Addressing the proceedings local resident and Jessore district unit Chhatra League former Organizing Secretary Saed Sardar said: "She [the victim] is just our child. "I urge the authorities concerned to make sure that justice is served." When contacted regarding this incident, Jessore Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Apurba Hasan said: "We suspect that the victim was raped before she was killed. Her father has lodged a case in this regard and also has identified the culprit responsible for this incident.
