A district public prosecutor returned the challan of a case, filed against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Nehal Hashmi and his sons for assaulting police officials, after posing objections to it. According to the challan, the police approached Hashmi's son Naseer during a traffic dispute. Naseer threatened the police and was taken to the police station, where Hashmi arrived with his wife and other son. The challan claimed Hashmi's sons assaulted police officials, adding that Hashmi was later released after consultation with senior officers. The prosecutor asked under which law the police released Hashmi of their own volition.
