In the framework of the 50th session of the Human Rights Council, a meeting and debate was held at the Hotel Montrbrillant-Cornavin, Geneva, on 14 June 2022, on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of the Child in Conflict Zones: Situation of Child Soldiers. The meeting gathered around 40 participants in-person and online, including civil society organizations, journalists, experts, human rights activists, reserachers, and diplomats. Panelists and particpants analyzed in detail the weakeness of the promotion and protection of the rights of the child in conflict zones. The meeting underlined the importance of the promotion of good practices regarding the protection and reintegration of child soldiers. In the face of the challenge regarding child protection, the participants called for the adoption of a preventive strategy through monitoring, education, as well as the protection of schools during armed conflict.
