Prof Datuk Dr Wan Sabri Wan Yusof, who is university deputy vice-chancellor of academic and student affairs, said this centre would play a significant part in revolutionising the conference’s aim to achieve global peace. “Our discussions and findings from invited speakers throughout this conference can be collected and organised well into a global peace centre. “It will also function as a research and reference centre for the Asean region,” he told a press conference on Wednesday. Sharing some of Surin’s career experience, Wan Sabri said he was Thailand’s Foreign Affairs Minister before elected as Asean secretary-general for his direct involvement in international mediation. In addition, Prof Wan Sabri said the university would hold its 10th convocation ceremony two days before the conference on Nov 18.
