KUALA LUMPUR: Business mogul and prominent philanthropist Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay passed away today. The founder of YTL Corporation Bhd is survived by his wife Puan Sri Tan Kai Yong and seven children including Tan Sri Francis Yeoh who now helms the diverse conglomerate. Family and friends may pay their last respects from 7pm onwards tomorrow at 2 Lorong Buloh Perindu 1, Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur. With a net worth of US$2.1 billion (RM8.8 billion), Yeoh was ranked seventh in the latest edition of Forbes’ Malaysia ’50 richest’ list back in March. He founded YTL in 1955 as a construction company but had since flourished into Malaysia’s largest conglomerate with interest in technology, hotels, utilities, construction and property management.
