Supply-chain technology company project44 has raised $45 million in venture-capital funding to accelerate a global expansion effort launched earlier this year. Mr. McCandless said the new infusion of capital allows the company to “accelerate” that expansion. The round also included existing investors 8VC, Chicago Ventures, Emergence Capital, Omidyar Technology Ventures, OpenView Venture Partners and Pritzger Group Venture Capital. That kind of detailed information is becoming a priority for manufacturers, distributors and retailers, Mr. McCandless said. With project44’s technology, “everything happens in a nanosecond back and forth,” he said.
