The African Development Bank has released for public disclosure, the project completion report for Morocco’s, Tangier - Marrakech Railroad. The project sector objective was focused on the continued upgrading and modernisation of transport infrastructure and services with a view to increasing the logistics competitiveness of the national economy. More specifically, the project’s objective was to meet goods and passenger traffic demand on the main Tangier-Marrakech railway line from 2016. First, to increase the capacity of the Kenitra-Casablanca railway line, followed by increasing the capacity of the Settat-Marrakech railway line. The project report is an interesting read and contains a number of lessons learnt and by all accounts reports that the objectives of the project have been met, in terms of increased freight and passenger transit – which are listed in the project report.
